we were hiking through the woods to collect nettles and came across a fallen cedar tree... the long, straight, thin roots were easily accessible and we collected quite a bit. good times.

I've been hanging out at fernridge wildlife area near veneta in my time off there. it's an incredibly lively place, and the light is amazing at the ends of the day.

this is the view from the logging landing I usually camp at near eugene. it's frequently foggy in the valleys there, but the sun shines through...

friends lucas and sonya, who crammed themselves into the back of my tiny hatchback with all of our stuff, and risked life and limb to get to silver city with me. by the way, if either of you read this... I found out later that one of the wheels was about to fall off. I fixed it though. maybe next time I won't run out of gas either.

it was snowing in hesperus so I went to sand canyon for a hike... it alternated beautiful and sunny and snow. snow falling in the desert with sun shining through... indescribably beautiful. also impossible to photograph. sorry, you'll have to imagine it.

feeding the dogs during an awesome windstorm. we couldn't tell if it was actually snowing or if it was just getting blown off the mountain.

this could have been so much better. how was I to know it would be the only one out of hundreds that was worth keeping?

again with coyotes... I know they poop in the trail on purpose, but do you think this was intentional?

as I look through the viewfinder at a pile of dogshit, I think to myself, is this abnormal behavior? (for a human, I mean... of course it's normal for a coyote to make a shit sculpture in the shape of a cross and place it in the middle of a trail)
