hell's half
this is the southernmost edge of the hell's half complex, which is a 5 mile ride up the road (and river valley) from the house. I hear rumors that they have the southern edge mostly contained and calmed down now, and they're working primarily on the north half now.

skeletons
facing southeast from within an old burn area, just a ways up the hillside from where this year's hell's half fire is burning now.

blackcaps!
this is actually the second harvesting round on these blackcaps, I hit them once already. almost a gallon total harvest between this and another patch... maybe 3 or 4 hours picking time. only catch is that I had to literally wade through poison oak to get to some of them. I paid with a bit of a rash on my legs where my pants rode up, but it wasn't too bad. worth it!

the river
this is the river, facing downstream (north west). this is a short walk across the valley/floodplain from the house.

electric blue
I love the color of these wasps. I swear I didn't crank the color on this photo at all.
props to the color rendition from the K-10 for capturing it too.

pie
the photo isn't the best, but the rhubarb-apple-pear pie was.
with honey and coconut milk. and yes, pie crust thrown together in five minutes might be a little crunchier but it's still damn good.

I'm the star now
I am grappling with the fact that a large portion of my photography has been of people, which is something I don't see a lot of these days. so I've turned to occasionally attempting to photograph myself as a last resort.
I what you can't really see here is that I just went swimming and I'm also watching the sunset while I play. the solo time has been good for me so far...

sleeping ute
more archives... sleeping ute mountain, in the four corners area, as seen during a break in a winter storm from an old cave dwelling ruin.
